The Ratchet Shop at The Royal Welsh Winter Fair

Now in its 26th year, the Royal Welsh Winter Fair is one of the most celebrated agricultural events of the year. We will be attending this year’s Winter Fair at the Royal Welsh Showground, Powys, which is running from Monday 28th November to Tuesday 29th November 2016.

The Winter Fair will feature a multitude of events, from horse and livestock competitions to floristry arts and crafts as well as the highly regarded Food Hall. Last year saw over 26,600 people turn up, and the highlights included: Nicholas Rogers winning the NFU-Cymru Livestock Champion Award, Alwyn Rees winning the coveted John Gittins Memorial Award, Tom & Kate Coney winning the Supreme Single Lamb Carcase Championship, and Carwyn Rees & Abigail Reader winning bursaries to the Oxford Farming Conference.

If you’re a foodie, the Food Hall is full of delicious Welsh delicacies, with award winning exhibitors from all over Wales debuting their most exquisite produce. The Food Hall is also great for finding tasty Christmas gifts for family and friends - definitely not one to miss!

For more unusual and unique gifts, there is late night shopping on Monday night, accompanied by a spectacular firework display at 6.30pm. You can wander your way through the vast array of stalls in both the Shopping Marquee and the Montgomery Pavilion, and beat the Christmas panic by getting your gifts ahead of time.

There is something for all the family, so if you know a child who is a dab hand with a drawing pencil, there’s the popular Children’s Art & Design competition to design a Christmas Card. Last year’s lucky winner got her award presented to her by the Royal Welsh Lady Ambassador!

The event is set to be just as popular this year, so don’t hesitate to book your tickets now. As always, if you see us, do come and say hello as we’d love to meet you!
